Previously known as Sunway Minecraft Server, Survival Asia Minecraft Multiplayer Server (SAMS) has been independent from the Sunway Esports Club and is now open worldwide. Founded in 2019, the server is run by Sunway student Joshua Ahimaz and Monash student Wong Yun Yi Nicolette.

The server offers extra features added to normal vanilla Minecraft such as Slimefun, which combines the scope of the creative sandbox game that is Minecraft with magic and industrial experience.As of now the server has amassed a total of 15980 sign ins and has been voted as one of the top 4 servers in Asia.

“It’s always been a dream to manage my own Minecraft server since I was young; never knew that a few years later I would have such a great community,” Ahimaz said, Owner of  SAMS. “The last 2 years of the server has truly been a blessing and sort of chaotic, and I have been fortunate enough to have the players support as Nicolette and I build towards our vision of evolving the server.”

“I was a great journey I’ll say. Since the only target was only a few university students, it’s sometimes seems like a dream when I see players from all around the world in the server,” said Wong, Co-owner of SAMS.

SAMS has been partnered with Serverminer, a UK based company continues to support SAMS in their project to further expand the server.  

  

Moving forward, SAMS would like to promote themselves primarily towards the South East Asian Minecraft community, where European run Minecraft servers are usually on the norm. SAMS wishes to entirely provide a safe place where the SEA Minecraft community would be able to communicate freely and interact with players from their own respective countries and to be able to build their own community.
