SriKL’s new gate solving issues and causing problems?

The main gate built by Sri Kuala Lumpur between the school and the resident’s area of Hexagon SS15
Subang Jaya: After a 25-year battle of traffic issues in SS15 Bulatan Kewajipan, the solution was finally made clear by Sri Kuala Lumpur School but still brought upon some problems with Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) SS15 Hexagon.

MPSJ approved the construction of a gate funded by SriKL that will be opened and closed at specific times. The gate factors as a step towards combating the heavy traffic in Bulatan Kewajipan.

However, constructions of the gate had led to the disapproval of many residents, as now the parents of the school will pick-up and drop-off their children in SS15/7 which created another traffic issue.

Human Resource Manager of SriKL, Dayang Lizzie Nurlaila, age 57 said that SriKL did implement traffic rules and has sent circulars to the parents of SriKL.

“The closure of SS15/7 during peak times was implemented but the decision of the parents to drop their children there was due to the attitude of the parents and not the fault of the school,” said Nurlaila.
She added that SriKL has done their part in securing the traffic and if the residents are still dissatisfied with the outcome, they would need to handle it themselves.

“The problem with the traffic issue in SS15/7 is mainly on how SriKL controls the so-call ‘emergency gate’ where students can go in and out whenever they choose,” said Peter Khoo, head of this project representing KRT.

Khoo said that SriKL’s opening of the emergency gate has caused the parents of the school to park at SS15/7 where it congests the already narrow road and brings danger to the residents.

President of KRT Hexagon SS15 Subang Jaya Sivanaesvaran Ramalingam, 72 claimed that the discussions to ease the traffic flow has been undergo since 2017 but the outcomes were mainly left up to the decision of SriKL.
“As told by SriKL, the purpose of the emergency gate being open was to allow the students to access the convenience stores nearby and to allow those who used the LRT to enter the school,” Ramalingam said.

He added that while the entire plan to lower the traffic rate has not completed yet, further meetings with all 3 parties were being planned to ensure the safety of the residents and to secure the flow of the traffic.
